Dear :

Over 11 months ago, Hurricane Katrina slammed into the Gulf Coast region with a devastating force rarely seen.  In the months following Hurricane Katrina , your church along with many others sacrificed their time, resources and energy to assist in the rebuilding of homes along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

In the sovereignty of God, our church, Christ Fellowship Baptist Church, was located only 30 miles from Pascagoula, Mississippi.  Under God’s direction, the elder team approved a relief ministry that would focus on bringing in churches from all over the nation to assist  in this rebuilding effort.  Our goal was to complete the rebuilding of 38 homes and this goal was accomplished.  Over 800 people from 40 churches, representing 26 states, came and stayed in our facilities.  These servants of Christ put their faith into action as they ministered physically through the rebuilding of these homes, and also spiritually as they ministered to the people.

As this ministry has come to an end, we see how God has worked in so many ways:

  1. In the lives of the workers as they ministered.  In the fellowship among the churches, and under the preaching of God’s word from Dr. Steven J. Lawson while in Mobile.
  2. In the encouragement brought to the affected areas of South Mississippi as the Gospel was presented and the hope of Christ was shared across the Gulf Coast.
  3. In the life of our church as we had the pleasure of hosting the people of God week by week.  The continual shot of “spiritual adrenaline” invigorated our church as the missionaries of Christ came to fellowship with us.
  4. In the financial contributions and provision of materials from churches and individuals which covered the complete cost of renovating 38 homes. This allowed each home to receive new drywall, paint, roof (if needed), trim work, doors, cabinets appliances, and countertops.
What a blessing it has been to see how God has used His church to bring relief, physically and spiritually, to the people of the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  Thank you for your obedience to the leading of the Holy Spirit as your church shared in this ministry.

To God be the Glory,

Danny W. Chance
Relief Coordinator/Elder
